The tenants at Portal Business Park got in touch after noticing signs of a leak inside their building. Overview

The building sits in a busy corner of the park here in Tarporley. A few patches of water damage had appeared indoors, so they needed a clearer look at the roof before deciding what to do next. Nothing complicated — just a proper view of the problem area so they could speak to a contractor with some confidence.

A drone flyover made the most sense. It meant we could get close to the roof, collect stills and video, and show them everything from above without anyone having to climb anything.

The Problem

Roof leaks are awkward to track down, especially when you’re trying to find the source without pulling half the place apart. Scaffolding takes time, access gear isn’t cheap, and nobody wants people walking on a roof if it can be avoided. They wanted to keep things simple and only bring in the trades once they actually understood what needed fixing.

The Solution

We headed over later that week and carried out a short flight around the building. The drone covered the ridge lines, guttering and the areas closest to the water damage indoors. We gathered a mix of close-up stills and slower video passes so the tenants could look through everything at their own pace.

A couple of spots stood out straight away once the images were processed. We sent everything over as a clean set of files, along with a few wider shots of the business park and surrounding area — not part of the original brief, but handy for them to keep.

Conclusion

The tenants could review the roof from their desks, work out where the problem was coming from and bring in the right people without wasting time or money. No scaffolding, no disruption, no guesswork.

It was a simple bit of work, but it showed how a short drone flight can answer the questions you need answered before anything else starts.
