Beeston Reclamation Yard covers a sizeable piece of land, and it turned into one of the more unusual jobs we’ve taken on. When the owners got in touch, they weren’t looking for marketing images or glossy shots — they simply wanted a better understanding of the space they had. A full aerial overview felt like the easiest way for them to step back and see the entire yard at once.

Overview

The business itself was well established, dealing in everything from reclaimed brick and slate to one-off architectural pieces. Even so, the landowners were starting to wonder whether the site could be used in a different way. From ground level, it was hard to judge how the whole plot came together, and they needed a clearer picture before deciding what to do next.

Our role was to give them that wider view. Nothing fancy — just a set of aerial images that showed the full layout so they could talk through their ideas with something solid in front of them.

The Problem

Trying to understand a large site from the ground is difficult. They had a few possibilities in mind: maybe open parts of the land up for development, divide sections and rent them out, or reorganise the space so the existing business could work more efficiently.

Planning discussions were already proving awkward, and before pushing anything further, they needed to see exactly what the site looked like from above. Without that view, they were making decisions with a lot of unknowns.

The Solution

We carried out a complete flyover and collected a mix of high-resolution images from different heights and angles. The aim was to show the entire site in a way that was easy to understand — boundaries, open areas, access routes, storage sections, and the spots that were sitting unused.

Once they had the images, things became a lot clearer. It helped them see which parts of the land had potential and which areas could be reorganised. We supplied everything digitally so the visuals could be pulled straight into early layout sketches and planning documents.

As the project moved on, planning permission became more complicated than they expected. Instead of developing the land themselves, the owners eventually chose a different path. They stepped back and brought in a reclaimed materials company to take over the yard — keeping the Beeston Reclamation name in place while they moved on to other work.

Conclusion

The aerial images didn’t just show the site — they helped the owners understand it properly. Having that top-down view made it easier to weigh up each option and make decisions without guessing.

It wasn’t a job about producing polished marketing shots. It was about giving people the clarity they needed to choose the right direction. In this case, the drone work helped them reach a decision with confidence.

The drone footage really helped us get a detailed look at the whole site from a new angle. It’s such a big area that you can’t see everything clearly from the ground, but the images made it easy to spot how different parts of the land could be used. It gave us a much better understanding before making any big decisions. The team were great to deal with too - quick, friendly, and they knew exactly what we needed.
